Children and adults are all welcome at this practice. Regular check-ups to maintain healthy teeth and gums are recommended from age two and a half years. We can pick up and discuss any concerns about speech, tongue posture, thumb-sucking, and ensure that tooth brushing is carried out effectively. Anomalies in tooth eruption can be identified and if needed corrected or watched.
We use a new non-invasive laser caries detector that can "see" through the enamel grooves of children's (and adult) molars and tell more accurately than x-rays if decay is present. If not, it is a simple and painless process to permanently place a clear plastic coating into the deep grooves to prevent potential decay forming. If there is decay, we can use the latest advanced air abrasion techniques to painlessly remove decay, and restore teeth with tooth-coloured fillings. This is called "Minimal Intervention Dentistry", and is the current and most common sense trend. Early problems can be solved without excessive cutting and loss of tooth structure by not using the conventional dental drill. Air abrasion is very precise and minimally destructive.

- Tooth Eruption: what is it?
- Gums: why are they so important?
Fissure sealants (as seen to the right) are one of the most important preventive measures a parent can insist upon to give their child protection against decay in their permanent six-year old molars, and twelve-year-old molars.
