Mr Appleyard has had extensive training and experience in treating adult and child patients, although not a registered specialist in the field. Time and care are taken during all phases of treatment. Mr Appleyard is a Member of the Australasian Association of Orofacial Orthopaedics (Orthodontics). Irregularly placed teeth, and jaw growth discrepancies can be corrected on a predictable basis in children (interceptive) and teenagers (interceptive and corrective). Adults can also benefit from orthodontic tooth movement to correct problems that were untreated as children. The following photographs display a range of readily treatable conditions.

Correction of deep bite and large overjet.

The photos above are of an adult who has had the upper teeth treated.

These photos show before and after shots of severe crowding, treated without removing any teeth.

Early intervention to correct "reverse" overbite, thus allowing for normal continued growth and development.

orthodontic_4

These four pictures, show very early and necessary treatment of reverse overbite. This is important to correct early as it will otherwise lead to abnormal development and growth of the lower jaw and jaw joints. In this case you can see how easy it is for the child to wear a simple plate that will only be needed for about three to four months.

These photos depict the good correction of a very deep bite (you can't see the bottom teeth when the jaw is closed), and also a large horizontal (overjet) discrepancy between the upper and lower jaws. There has been an advancement of the lower jaw made possible by early treatment while bone growth is still occurring.
